DCCA presents MCT’s
Pinocchio
Darke County Center for the Arts will present Missoula Children’s
Theatre’s interpretation of the beloved children’s story Pinocchio at
Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville on Saturday, August 6 at 3
p.m. and 7 p.m. The production will star local students chosen at
an audition to be held Monday, August 1 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
“In one short week, MCT’s acting/directing team will cast 60
characters, lead rehearsals, teach songs and choreography, set up
scenery, fit costumes, and just generally do everything that needs to
be done to produce a full-scale musical theatre production,” said Julie
Strait, DCCA Executive Director. ‘The MCT team is dependably
outstanding, and the plays are always entertaining and family values
oriented; add talented local youngsters to that mix, and we’ve created
a not-to-be-missed event,” Mrs. Strait concluded.
Students entering first through twelfth grades are invited to try out
for the 60 available roles in Pinocchio; assistant directors will also
be chosen to assist with backstage responsibilities. No advance
preparation is necessary for auditioning although DCCA officials advise
youngsters that bringing a big smile and closely listening to
instructions will enhance chances of being chosen. Those
auditioning should plan to be present for the whole session; rehearsals
will begin immediately following tryouts, and continue daily throughout
the week.
Tickets for Pinocchio are $5, and may be reserved by contacting DCCA at
937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net
Tickets will also be
available at the door.
