Eagles readies for
two-day event
By Bob Robinson
Work preparing for the two-day Eagles Independence Day Celebration
continued Saturday morning during its breakfast buffet, open to the
public. Moving tables, bringing in last-minute beverages and ice,
handing out work assignments, and fireworks preparations were all part
of the morning and early afternoon.
Canisters had been placed more than a hundred yards out on the Eagles’
commercial agriculture property, which it rents on the condition that
an area can be cleared annually for the fireworks. Rental income helps
pay for the event.
Actual fireworks arrived during the day and will be watched, or
“guarded,” until they become displays for an estimated 3,000 visitors
Sunday evening at approximately 10 p.m.
The park will open at 3 p.m. with live music from Tempest starting at
4, followed by Classified at 7 p.m. There will be games for the
children, and concessions from Rismiller’s, Bowman’s Texas Tenderloins,
Grumpy’s Pull Pork, Darke Humane Society and Pam Rhoades Kettle Corn.
The “Largest Fireworks Display in Darke County” will be even larger
this year, with the inclusion of 5-inch rounds in addition to the
4-inch rounds used in previous years.
See you at Eagles Park!
