Eagles prepares for
Independence Day Blowout
“It’s going to be bigger and badder than last year,” said Eagles
Treasurer Joe Shumaker.
Eagles Officers and volunteers were busy throughout Friday preparing
for the Greenville Eagles Independence Day two-day Blowout Saturday and
Sunday. Part of the preparations included marking off no-trespass zones
during the fireworks. It includes a path to the fireworks area from the
parking lot, plus a safety zone along the length of the field where the
fireworks will be set off.
Shumaker said that this year there will also be water trucks available
if needed, strictly as a precaution.
Last year, the largest canisters used were fours… this year there will
be several sixes.
“Gonna be bigger and badder,” he said.
Hundreds of man-hours have been spent getting ready for the weekend.
Trimming, spot cleaning, getting supplies in… preparing for guests
starting Saturday morning and culminating with an estimated 3,000 plus
people for the fireworks Sunday night.
Entertainment will include three bands, games and prizes for the kids
and lots of great food.
