U.S. Army Jazz
Ambassadors will Perform at Greenville City Park
America’s Big Band, the United States Army Field Band’s Jazz
Ambassadors, will perform at Greenville City Park in the Marling Band
Shell on Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. Additionally, three Greenville High
School students, trumpeter Claire Sherman, sax player Peter Clark, and
trombonist Trevor Fulton, have been chosen to perform with the Jazz
Ambassadors. Darke County Center for the Arts is sponsoring this free
concert.
As the premier touring big band for the U.S. Army, the Jazz Ambassadors
travel thousands of miles each year throughout the world. Concerts by
the Jazz Ambassadors are designed to entertain audiences of all kinds;
their diverse repertoire includes big band swing, contemporary popular
tunes, American standards, Dixieland, Latin, and patriotic selections.
Past performance highlights include the World War II 50th anniversary
commemorations in the United States and Europe as well as at the
prestigious Montreux and Newport Jazz Festivals. After performing with
the Cincinnati Pops at Carnegie Hall, the Jazz Ambassadors were
described by The Cincinnati Enquirer as “polished and seamless
virtuosos” who displayed superb musicianship.
Members of the Jazz Ambassadors are selected by highly competitive
audition and represent some of the finest musical talent in America.
All concerts are presented on an admission-free basis as a public
