Edison Community College To Host Annual
Career Expo
Edison Community College will host its annual Career Expo Tuesday,
March 22, from 11–3 p.m. in the North Hall of the Piqua Main campus.
More than 50 organizations ranging from manufacturing, business,
financial services, health care, social services, retail and the armed
forces will be in attendance, representing a wide range of job
opportunities for west central Ohio area residents.
The expo is being sponsored by Edison, the Upper Valley JVS, area Job
Centers and the Rehabilitation Services Commission. The job centers of
Shelby and Darke Counties will be on hand to provide resume help and
job search assistance. Additional resources, including access, are
available at their facilities.
“In this challenging economy, the Career Expo is a way of bringing job
hunters and employers together in an environment where they can both
benefit,” said Pam Gibellino, coordinator of career services at Edison.
“We have been pleased with the positive employer response and number of
organizations who are hiring.”
This year, more than 500 job seekers are expected to attend the free
event. Representatives from organizations such as Clopay Building
Products, Emerson Climate Technologies, Evenflo Co., Inc., Hartzell
Industries, Plastipak Packaging, Inc., Wilson Memorial Hospital,
Midmark Corp., Norcold, and Jackson Tube Services. There will also be
staffing services featured including Volt Workforce Solutions,
Associates Staffing, LLC and Staffmark.
Edison’s Career Services department provides resources to the community
in the areas of career searching and advising. Individuals can come to
the department for guidance when they are considering a career change
or have experienced a job loss. Skilled career advisors guide them
through a career assessment process and links to significant data on
career fields and the job market. Customized workshops are also offered
in the community, on topics such as business etiquette, and mid-career
job change.u
"Edison is pleased to have the opportunity to again work with the Upper
Valley JVS, area Job Centers, and Rehabilitation Services to bring this
event to the community,” Gibellino added. “Over 50 organizations will
participate, and we expect over 500 job seekers to attend."
