Riders in the Sky
return to Greenville
Darke County Center for the Arts will present Riders In the Sky at
Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall on Saturday, April 9 at 8 p.m.
Dubbed “America’s Favorite Cowboys,” the quartet sings Western
favorites and spew Western wit as they promote the virtues of “The
Cowboy Way.”
DCCA officials say that past performances by Riders In the Sky have
been extremely popular, stimulating a multitude of requests for this
return engagement.
According to DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins, Riders in the Sky
attracts fans of all ages.
“They are the keepers of the flame passed on by the Sons of the
Pioneers, Gene Autry, and Roy Rogers, earning generations of fans for
their warm harmonies and excellent musicianship as well as their unique
wacky humor,” Rawlins said. “But they gained attention from a
whole new generation when they started working with Pixar. Their
album of music from Toy Story won the group their first Grammy; their
Monsters Inc. album earned a second Grammy,” explained Rawlins.
The Riders In the Sky concert is sponsored by Coppock-Hole Trust and
Greenville National Bank. DCCA also receives funding from Harry
D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund,
and Ketrow Foundation. In addition, the Ohio Arts Council helps
fund Darke County Center for the Arts with state tax dollars to
encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural
enrichment for all Ohioans.
