Antique Cars Cruise
through Town
Darke County Visitors Bureau…
GREENVILLE – On Tuesday, September 20, the streets of downtown
Greenville will be lined with antique cars including Model A Fords,
Model T Fords, Overlands, McLaughlin-Buicks, Packards, Studebakers, a
Stevens Duryea and many more.
Two car clubs are visiting our community on that day to enjoy the Garst
Museum, KitchenAid Experience and the other quality shops and
restaurants in downtown Greenville.
The Ford Model A Club is hosted by Joe and Pam Baxter and is comprised
of 74 families and 99 Model A’s. They promote the interest,
restoration, preservation and enjoyment of the Model A Ford which was
produced from 1928 through 1931.
The club is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana but includes families from
Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Members enjoy monthly tours as
well as long-distance trips to national meets and national tours.
Touring with a group of Model A friends is a rewarding adventure of
traveling along scenic country roads and taking in many of the
beautiful sights our country has to offer.
The Snapper’s Brass & Gas Club is hosted by Tom and Linda Muth, and
is a brass car touring division of the Antique Car Club of America. The
club was founded on August 19, 1993, in the Snappers Saloon on the
banks of the Ohio River in Ripley, Ohio.
This club promotes cars manufactured before 1916 and is dedicated to
the restoration, preservation and enjoyment of Brass Era Automobiles.
The club’s activities emphasize the enjoyment of old tyme automobile,
touring away from the hustle and bustle of our modern lives in some of
the most beautiful parts of the United States and Canada. Membership is
approximately 262 families in thirty-three states, Canada, and New
Zealand.
“We are thrilled to have these two antique car clubs tour Greenville,”
stated Deanna York, Executive Director of the Darke County Visitors
Bureau. “Locals have known for years that downtown Greenville is the
place to be. Now visitors are discovering it, as well.”
