Seventh Annual Gospel
Sing Concert
Darke County Cancer Association...
September 11, 2011
Your local and independent Cancer Association of Darke County is
putting on their seventh annual Gospel Sing concert. The Gospel Sing is
a free, nondenominational concert on September 11th, at Saint Clair
Memorial Hall in Greenville opening at 6:00 PM and concluding at 8:00
PM.
This week, we will be highlighting some of this year’s performers. This
article covers the following artists: Jerri Libert, Kimi Holsapple, the
New Dawn Trio, and Daryl Peeples
Jerri Libert began playing piano at age seven and progressed quickly,
performing Chopin’s “Minute Waltz” in recital at age nine and
performing on the radio at age twelve. She began composing music
at age seven, gaining recognition in the Akron Beacon Journal.
Arriving in Union City in the mid 60’s, Jerri taught piano in her home
for many years. She was the pianist and musical arranger for the
gospel group “The Harvesters”, which took fourth place at the Ohio Sate
fair gospel music competition in 1981. The group performed
annually at the Darke County fair for six years.
Being a pianist for the better part of seven decades, Jerri recently
gave a live concert at First Christian Church in Union City. She
is very pleased to have this opportunity to be a part of this benefit
for the Cancer Association of Darke County.
Born in Dayton, OH and now living in New Madison, Kimi Holsapple has
been singing gospel music since 1984. She has performed at the Southern
Gospel Fan Fair in Pigeon Forge, TN, the National Quartet Convention in
Louisville, KY, the Great Lakes Gospel Sing in Michigan, and the
Northern Gospel Sing in Indiana. Besides singing at local
churches in Darke County and surrounding areas of Ohio & Indiana,
she also performs on cruise ships with Homeland Entertainment Group of
Tennessee. She has been on stage with the Hoppers, the Nelons and Gold
City Quartet. Kimi encourages residents of Darke County
& surrounding areas to come and be part of this worthy cause.
New Dawn was formed in 2009 when three gospel singers were united by a
series of non-related events. Bruce Shank had been singing gospel
music for many years with various groups as well as solo. His
sister, Dixie Magee, joined him in 2006 and they performed as a
duet. In late 2008, Bruce met Larry Hart, and discovered his
vocal talents. Larry was asked to join Bruce and Dixie, and the
trio, New Dawn, was formed. The songs they sing speak to the
heart-each with its own meaning. In 2010, they released two
CD’s. They perform at churches, fairs, festivals and benefits.

In 2003 Daryl Peeples, Sr. accepted a call to pastor a small country
church, and in 2004 the Lord started giving this man, who knew nothing
about music, words and tunes to several songs. In 2006 God placed
three wonderful friends into his life who put music to those
words. Pastor Daryl, his wife Fay and their daughter Penny has
recorded three CD’s with number four in the works. They
enjoy going to care facilities and churches in Ohio and Indiana sharing
Gods word in music. “We knew the Lord did not give these
songs just for us, so the Peeples Family Gospel Music Ministry was
formed.” You may contact Pastor Daryl at 937-448-2519 or on line

Gospel Sing, so keep an eye out for our next announcement!
The Cancer Association is excited for this event and hopes that you and
your family will keep the evening of September 11th clear to attend
this FREE, nondenominational concert. A love offering will be taken
during the performance to benefit the Cancer Association of Darke
County. There will also be a bake sale to benefit the Cancer
Association with local and homemade baked goods.
Saint Clair Memorial Hall is located on 215 West Fourth Street in
Greenville, Ohio; please join us for an evening of entertainment and
great music!
