Community Action Day
Luncheon
Event: May 23 at Lighthouse Christian Center
May is Community Action Partnership Month and Community Action
Partnership of Greater Dayton Area - Darke County will celebrate this
special time by hosting their annual luncheon on May 23 at the
Lighthouse Christian Center, 5256 Sebring-Warner Road, Greenville. The
event will focus on Community Action services available to Darke County
residents, as well as the presentation of the Outstanding Senior
Citizen of the Year Award. Special recognition will be given to Julie
Lecklider, Darke Co. CAP employee for the Exemplary Service Award
recently presented to her at the CAP Annual Meeting in Dayton. Doors
open at 10am, followed by welcome remarks, introductions, award
presentations and lunch. Over 273 people attended last years’ luncheon,
and staff at CAP anticipate there will be a great turnout again this
year. Suggested donation is $2.00 for seniors 60+, and for those under
60, the cost is $7.50, payable with reservation or at the door. The
menu includes roast pork with dressing & gravy, sweet potatoes,
green beans, cherry supreme delight, roll, butter, 2% milk and water.
Reservation deadline for the luncheon is May 17th and can be made by
calling 548-8143 or 548-2727. Due to the high volume of response for
this special luncheon, seniors are asked to sign up prior to the event
at the congregate sites located in Greenville at 1469 Sweitzer St. from
8am-4pm, New Madison Community Center and Versailles at Fleur de Lis
from11am-12noon. Transportation is available to those who need it by
calling 548-2727 by May 21st.
Entertainment this year includes a performance by the East Elementary
Echoes following lunch at 12:15. Also on hand this year will be
exhibitors who offer various services to Darke County residents. They
include Amedisys, Brethren Retirement Community, Comprehensive Health
Network, Family Health, State of the Heart Hospice, Heartland, Oakley
House, Resthaven, Altera Sterling House, Union City Care Center,
Versailles Health Care Center, Blackstone Home Care, and Gade Health
Care Center. Door prizes and table favors are provided by the
exhibitors.
