Festival
Tradition Continues with New Activities
February 8, 2012
The mere
mention of Annie Oakley brings to mind a legend, a legacy and a piece
of
American history. The life of Phoebe Anne Moses served as an
exclamation point
honoring the Great American West. Darke County will forever be linked
to Annie
Oakley as her heritage and place of birth. It is with this honor The
Annie
Oakley Festival will hold its 49th Annual installment on Thursday, July
26th,
2012 through Sunday, July 29th, 2012. The festival ?Honoring Darke
County?s
Most Famous Daughter? will feature many new events as we approach the
2012
edition and prepare for our grand 50th Anniversary celebration in 2013!
Many of the
events associated with the Annie Oakley Festival which you have come to
know
and love, will continue for 2012. The downtown Greenville sidewalk
sales will
continue as they have for many years, bringing both our community and
visitors
to our area into contact with local merchants, presenting their Annie
inspired
sales and specials. The 49th Annual Miss Annie Oakley shooting contest
will be
held with more details and applications to be found on the new festival
web
site at www.annieoakleyfestival.org. The Annie Oakley Festival parade
will be
held in its usual time slot on Saturday morning, with the festival?s
