Candidates
Night to be held Feb. 27
January 10,
2012
The
upcoming 2012 primary election was the focus of League of Women of
Darke County
as they met at the Law Library to make plans for a candidates night
before that
crucial event on March 6.
As is their
usual practice, the LWV is planning to hold this Candidates Night the
week
before the primary, February 27 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion on
Ohio
Street. The public
is invited to attend
and submit questions for the candidates.
So that it
can be viewed on GPAT, the LWV plans to tape the event to be shown
throughout
the week prior to the primary to give more voters an opportunity to
become
acquainted with the candidates and their positions.
With the
State’s final decision not to have two but only one primary election,
this
March 6 primary will be a deciding factor in several races. Although some candidates
running for county
offices are uncontested, the Darke County Common Pleas Judge
Probate/Juvenile
Division is one of the three that is, along with Clerk of Courts and
one County
Commissioner‘s seat.
The League
committee is planning for uncontested candidates to introduce
themselves
briefly although they will not be part of a panel presentation. The LWV
Candidates Night committee will also briefly outline the issues facing
voters
in the March 6 primary.
The
League of Women Voters of Darke County
is a non-partisan organization encouraging informed and active
participation in
government. For
