Fun
in the Summertime
Darke
County Center for the Arts’ “Barbecue and Blues” promises summertime
fun for
the whole family according to DCCA Executive Director Julie Strait.
“DCCA has
wanted to present a fun outdoor summer event for a very long time,” she
stated.
“So we came up with ‘Barbecue and Blues,’ a fundraiser which can be
enjoyed by
all ages that provides good food, good music, and a good time,” the
DCCA
spokesperson concluded. The event takes place Friday, July 13 at Turtle
Creek
Golf Course (formerly Greenville Golf Course); gates open at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets
for the event are $10.
The menu
provided by Turtle Creek includes pulled barbecued pork on a bun, wings
and
chicken chunks with your choice of mild or hot sauce, Carolina
vegetable slaw,
redskin potato salad, and pasta salad; cost of the buffet meal is $8
for
adults, $4.50 for children 12 and under. The golf club will also have a
full
range of drinks available for purchase. Additionally, Ghyslain’s
desserts and
gelato will be provided at an additional charge.
Ray Fuller
and the Blues Rockers, a popular group based in Columbus, will supply
music for
the event. The band is sponsored by Matt and Angie Arnold, Tom and
Jennifer
Bish, George and Becky Luce, and Robert and Jean McLear. Proceeds from
“Barbecue and Blues” benefit DCCA’s programs in the community,
including Arts
In Education and Family Theatre Series.
In
case of inclement weather, “Barbecue and
Blues” will move into Turtle Creek’s newly renovated clubhouse. Advance
