Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol...
50th Annual
Home & Sports Show is open
Darke County Sheriff Toby L. Spencer has announced the opening
ceremonies Friday for the 50th Annual Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol
Home & Sports Show at the Darke County Fairgrounds. The Home
& Sports Show is located inside the Coliseum of the
fairgrounds. Admission is free. It will be open throughout
the remaining weekend, Saturday 10a-9p and Sunday 11a-5p.
Opening Ceremonies were attended by Ohio Representative Jim Buchy and
Sheriff Toby L. Spencer. The Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home
& Sports Show has been going on for 50 years. It is one of
the largest fund raisers the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol holds each
year.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol is the volunteer auxiliary unit of
the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and is comprised of twenty sworn
deputies. These deputies have all of the same training and law
enforcement powers of any fulltime deputy. The Darke County
Sheriff’s Patrol members provide many hours of volunteer patrol time
and service to their community. They are also responsible for
administering and manning many of the special security details in Darke
County including the Darke County Fair, Eldora Speedway and high school
sporting events. The Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol provides for
their own uniforms, equipment, cruisers, fuel and maintenance for their
vehicles at no cost to tax payers. They are available to be
called in for large events and incidents which exceed the fulltime
resources of the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. The Darke County
Sheriff’s Patrol is an absolute integral part of the Darke County
Sheriff’s Office.
Darke County Sheriff Toby Spencer appreciates the public’s support of
this essential volunteer unit.
