Spring hats
added to the festive atmosphere as women gathered at the St.Clair Manor
to join
League of Women Voters in their Glad Rags, Old Bags event. The proceeds of this fund
raiser will be used
to fund activities and events to raise voter awareness on community
issues.
Beautifully
set tables with fine teacups greeted guests as they entered the
magnificent
home built by Henry St. Clair for his wife Ella. A silent auction of
gently
used purses continued during the afternoon as the women shared
delicious hors
d’oeuvres by Montage with tea and punch.
Adding to
the ambiance of the afternoon was the “glad rags” part of the afternoon
as
Youniques shared spring and summer fashions.
The models, members of the League of Women
Voters, descended the elegant
mahogany stairs to stroll among the guests, showing off the their
garments and
accessories.
The final
buyers of the purses found numbers inside corresponding to the number
on one of
the many treasures. Many
community
businesses and individuals contributed to this LWV fund raising
activity. They were
Aaron Cox and Montage, Mike
Pressnall and St. Clair Manor, Hala Knapke and Lelah Shoop at
Youniques, Ann’s
Gift Shop, Jan Boyer, Kay Davis, Brenda’s Beanery, Christina’s
Consignment,
Granny’s Corner, Headliners Again, Immanence Massage, Marie Boas,
Kitchen Aid
Experience, Eileen Litchfield, Merle Norman, Michael’s Fine Jewelry and
Clocks,
Pamela’s Intimate Apparel, Physiotherapy Associates, Readmore’s
Hallmark,
Tangles, The Beauty Shop, Thirty one, Wayne Healthcare, Wieland’s
Jewelry, YMCA
and Christy Baker, Phyllis Thomas, and Lyn Bliss.
Not
often does a fundraiser also provide
