Eagles, SSSF &
CNO to hold fundraiser for scholarships
Dance to Tempest and the Sounds of the 60s
The Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund, County News Online and Greenville
Eagles 2177 will be holding a scholarship fundraiser on Dec. 1. It will
be an evening of music and dancing from the Dayton band Tempest: Sounds
of the 60’s.
“You will dance the night away and reminisce the good times of the
60’s,” said Tempest in a press release. “We have been told we are a
great band to dance to. We encourage requests. It’s not what we want to
play; it’s what you want to hear!”
The Eagles has recently partnered with the SSSF to provide scholarships
to local teens. In 2012, the Lodge funded $4,000 in direct
scholarships. SSSF was able to provide nearly $14,000 in scholarships
to qualified Darke County students, a large portion of it thanks to the
Eagles.
SSSF, CNO and the Eagles want to help more students in 2013; at the
same time the organizations feel that a “thank you” to the many
individuals, organizations and friends who have supported the program
and CNO’s community news and information service is appropriate.
The band begins at 8:30, but the Eagles suggests coming early and
hungry. The Eagles kitchen will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. There is no
charge for “dancing the night away” although a $2 per person donation
from those able will be appreciated.
SSSF, CNO and the Eagles have developed a large following of friends
over the years. County News Online alone gets 45,000 to 50,000 visitors
a month. This will be a great evening of entertainment… and could help
several students achieve their college goals in 2013.
Join us and make it happen.
