High
School students to learn songwriting
techniques
Darke
County Center for the Arts will present
singer/songwriter Jonathan Kingham in all local public high schools
from
November 12 through 15 as part of its Arts In Education program.
Jonathan is a
folk, pop, and jazz musician and award-winning songwriter who will help
students learn how to write their own songs. Arts In Education shows
are
presented to students at no charge, and are free and open to the public.
According
to DCCA Artistic Director Keith
Rawlins, Jonathan Kingham is a rising star whose songs have been
featured in
many movies and TV shows. Kingham has toured with diverse artists
including
Julio Iglesias, Jr. and currently plays keyboard and steel guitar for
Toad the
Wet Sprocket. “Jonathan can relate to audiences of all ages through his
music,
charm, and wit,” Rawlins said. “He has demonstrated his remarkable
ability to
inspire students to write meaningful songs in schools across the
nation; DCCA
feels justifiable pride in snaring an artist of this caliber to share
his gifts
in our community,” Rawlins concluded.
Arts
In Education is sponsored by Dayton Power
and Light Company Foundation, Greenville Federal, Maid-Rite Sandwich

Vectren Foundation, Edison Community College, The Andersons Inc.,

this
program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth,
