Open Houses! Bazaars!
Christmas? Oh my!
With the holiday season right around the corner, many organizations and
communities are hosting open houses, bazaars and events over the next
few weeks. Read on for details! It's the perfect time to shop locally,
and support U.S. based businesses.

November 16 - Family Movie Night with Darke County Parks. Join the
Darke County Parks family as they present a screening of the
Disney-Pixar, Academy Award winning movie, Wall-E. The story follows a
robot named Wall-E who was designed to clean up a waste covered Earth
and after years of being alone, he meets another robot named Eve. This
movie is enjoyable for kids & adults, alike! So grab the kids (or
kids grab Mom & Dad!) and head out to the Nature Center for Movie
Night! Please call and let them know you are coming, so they have

November 17 - Hometown Holiday Horse Parade. Greenville will again host
a lighted, horse-drawn carriage parade through the streets of Historic
downtown Greenville at 7:00 pm on Saturday, November 17. Bring the
entire family to enjoy this event and see Santa Claus come to town! The
parade will include carolers, bands, bell choirs and lighted carriages
pulled by horses.
November 17, 18 & 19 - Downtown Greenville Holiday Open House. It's
the holiday season, which means it's time to shop! Merchants in
downtown Greenville open their doors and extend their hours just for

November 17 & 18 - Christmas Preview at Bear's Mill. The Friends of
Bear’s Mill will once again be hosting their annual Christmas Preview
Open House on Saturday, November 17th and Sunday, November 18th from
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Mill Store & Gallery will be
decked out in holiday splendor with many new tempting treats and
gifts. Visitors will also be entertained on Sunday from 1:00 to
3:00 with traditional Christmas music by “Knotwork Flutes” from New
Lebanon, Ohio.
In addition to stocking a variety of our tried-and-true favorites, the
Mill Store will be filled with new holiday merchandise, special
Christmas gifts and home decor items. The emphasis of the Mill
Store is locally homemade, gourmet, regional and USA handmade items
with one-of-a-kind gift ideas for both men and women. On display
in the Gallery will be the collage pieces by November artist Marsha
Pippenger as well as a new selection of pottery by the Bear’s Mill
potters. Special grab-bag discounts will be available during this
event.
Share the spirit of the season with family and friends by taking a free
self-guided tour of this historic gem, festive with old-style
decorations. Sample holiday treats and listen to traditional
holiday music while shopping our unique Mill Store and Gallery, go for
a walk in the woods and enjoy a memorable holiday experience.

November 17 - 22nd Annual Holiday Shopping Day in Union City. Enjoy a
day of shopping at various locations in Union City from 9:00 am until
3:00 pm. For more information, call (765) 964-6080.
November 18 - Garst Museum Holiday Open House. The Garst Museum
cordially invites the public to attend their annual Christmas Open
House from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. During the Open House, the public can tour
the museum at no charge. The festive highlights include seasonal music,
light refreshments, and beautifully decorated Christmas trees by the
following groups: Wildflower Garden Club, Butterflies Junior Garden
Club, Sun and Fun Garden Club, Ladybug Garden Club, Wood Sprite Garden
Club, the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, and Ft. Greeneville Chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution. To add to the seasonal fun, the
museum will be exhibiting artifacts from their Christmas collection.

November 16 & 17 - Christmas in the Village. Bring your friends and
family to Fountain Square in downtown Versailles to enjoy Santa Claus
coming to town, horse-drawn carriage rides, the illumination of the
square, bonfire, prizes as well as special musical performances and
treats.
November 23 - Seventh Annual Community Christmas - Drive Through Light
Display. Start a new family tradition by taking a drive through Harter
Park in Union City to see a spectacular light display with more than 3
million lights. Visit the Gift Shop, open Friday and Saturday evenings
through December 15 from 6-9 p.m. Parking is available. Kids can visit
Santa and Mrs. Claus every Friday and Saturday through December 15 from

November 24 - Historical Society Christmas Bazaar. Enjoy Arcanum Wayne
Trail Historical's Annual Christmas Bazaar featuring Beck's Boutique,
Country Store and Bake Shoppe, Kids' Treasures and the Meeting Room.
The bazaar is filled with Christmas decorations galore plus new items
this year handcrafted wooden snowmen with moving arms, rocking horses,
slender decorated Christmas trees and aprons. 9:00 am until 9:00 pm.

December 1 - KristKindle Market at The Winery at Versailles. Bring the
whole family to The Winery At Versailles to enjoy this German holiday

Winter Wonderland at Shawnee Prairie.
Join Darke County Parks for an evening stroll through a 'Winter
Wonderland.' Enjoy more than 300 beautiful luminaries lighting the way
along a wooded trail to the Pioneer Log House, as well as a roaring
fire, holiday snacks, warm drinks and music from Christmas Past. Guests
can also enjoy a peaceful winter’s hike through the woods with the
crisp air and bright stars of an early December eve.
December 7
Candlelight Open House at Bear's Mill.
Close your eyes. Picture a crackling bonfire and luminaries reflecting
off the water. Feel the chill in the air. Smell the aroma of fresh
cedar. Taste the hot chocolate with marshmallows. You are invited to
enjoy the romance of the holidays at this historic landmark during an
evening in the country with The Friend of Bear's Mill.
