Darke County Amateur Radio Service
On
October 6th, the Darke County Amateur Radio Service (ARES) will
be taking part in the nationwide Simulated Emergency Traffic (SET) net. Darke County
ARES is a group of HAM radio
operators that offer their time and equipment in the case of a
communications
emergency in Darke County.
This
SET will test the ability of the Darke ARES group to
communicate within the county as well as neighboring counties and with
the
State organization in Columbus. Groups
in other counties will try to do the same thing.
Using amateur gear capable of high frequency
transmission, Darke ARES will also try to contact other groups out of
the area.
As
part of this SET, the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association
hospitals will have a HAM in each hospital in the association including
Wayne
Medical Center. Those
interested in
listening on Oct.6 who have a scanner or short wave listening device
can hear
Darke County ARES on 146.79 MHz .
Scanning the ham bands should offer a good
listening experience. Radioreference.com
offers all of the ham
frequencies in the area.
