County Deer Hunter’s
Workshop October 13th
Prepare Your Trophy for the Wall
and the Freezer
EATON,
OH - The Ohio Department of
Natural Resources Division of Wildlife in conjunction with the Ohio
State
University Extension Office in Preble County are hosting a Deer Hunter
Workshop
on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Pre-registration is required. Sponsors
for this
event include Preble County Agricultural Society, OSU Extension, Preble
County,
Twin Valley Rod & Gun Club, Twin Creek Branch QDMA, Southwest
Ohio Chapter
of SCI, and Indian Trails Archery Club.
There
is a $5.00 fee for the
workshop includes admission, meal and door prize ticket. Participants
are asked
to pre-register by October 1, 2012. Please call the Ohio State
University
Extension Office in Preble County at 937-456-8174 to register. This
event is
being held at Bruner Arena, Preble County Fairgrounds, 722 South
Franklin St.,
Eaton Ohio 45320.
Doors
open at noon with seminars
starting at 3 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the field
dressing
demo will begin at 6:30 p.m. Registered participants will also be
entered into
a general raffle and all registered youth under the age of 18 will
receive a
FREE incentive item.
Presentations
will include speakers
from Quality Deer Management Association, Fatal Attraction Deer Feed,
Attractant & Supplement, Short-Cuts Deer Processing, the
Division of
Wildlife, and the OSU Extension Office. Mike Tonkovich, Wildlife
Biologist with
the Division of Wildlife will discuss management of Ohio’s deer herd.
Wildlife
issues, and laws and regulations for the upcoming season will be
presented by
the Division staff as well. A
demonstration on field preservation of trophies for mounting, field
dressing,
preparing venison for the freezer and the table, and skinning and
butchering
will be presented after the meal.
Participants
can also bring their
deer mounts to be scored by Buckeye Big Buck Club during the evening.

Short-Cuts Deer
