GHS grad and OSU trainer to share
experiences

OSU Alumnae and
their friends have an opportunity to learn
first hand from a Darke County native, Angie Beisner, about the ins and
outs of
Big Ten Athletic Trainers’ lives. Saturday at 11:30 on November 17 at
Turtle
Creek Golf Course, women will have a chance to talk to one of our own
as well
as share a luncheon and good time with other OSU women and friends!
Angie, a 1992
graduate of Greenville High School, is
entering her 14th year at The Ohio State University as athletic trainer
and
works primarily with men’s lacrosse and women’s golf.
She supervises the Biggs Athletic Training
room which also provides care for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s
lacrosse,
field hockey, baseball,
softball and
women’s tennis.
Beisner, who has
won numerous awards for work in her field,
graduated from The Ohio State University in 1996.
Her first experiences were as a graduate
assistant athletic trainier at Eastern Kentucky University where she
earned a
master’s degree in secondary education with a specialization in allied
health
science. She worked
primarily with
football and women’s basketball.
Adding to her
experience, she pursued her professional
career at Oklahoma State University as an assistant coordinator of
sports until
August 1999. While
at Oklahoma State,
she taught physical education basic athletic training and worked with football, women’s
basketball and golf.
Returning to Ohio
State in 1999, she worked with men’s and
women’s volleyball and track and field and supervised the St John Arena
athletic training room before moving to her current position. In addition to her work as
an athletic
trainer, she currently teaches organization/administration courses in
the
undergraduate curriculum program at OSU.
Angie is also in demand as a professional
presenter, with her two latest
presentations being on”New Approaches to Low Back Injury Prevention”.
Beisner is a
member of the National Athletic Trainers’
Association and Ohio Athletic Trainer’s Association.
She has earned numerous awards including the
2008 OATA Athletic Trainer of the Year,
the 2009 Al Brady Service Award for Men’s
Lacrosse and, most recently,
the 2012 Preceptor of the Year for her work with OSU athletic training
undergraduate programs.
