to experience Harvest Happenings Weekend in Darke County! Our
urban-country
spirit will be in full swing with farmers' markets, hayrides to the
pumpkin
patch, fresh-pressed apple cider, small town charm, rich frontier
heritage and
fine wine... uniquely Darke County.
We
encourage you to enjoy all the
destinations featured during the weekend of September 28, 29 &
30 with our
"Harvest Passport."
Here's
how it works... pick up a
"Harvest Passport" at any one of the follow destinations, or click
here to open and print a copy.
Then,
visit five of the nine
participating businesses and have your "Harvest Passport" stamped.
Drop off your completed passport at one of the businesses to be entered
into a
drawing for a chance to win a Darke County Gift Basket. Visit all nine
of the
destinations and be entered to win a Sweetheart Getaway Weekend for two
at The
Inn at Versailles. Must be 18 or older to enter. One passport entry per
family.

Prairie
Days
Saturday
10-5; Sunday 12-5. Come
and enjoy a weekend celebrating prairies and the pioneer way of life.
See apple
butter cooked over the fire, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, compete in
foot
races or visit the school house, view local artists' creations, enjoy
live
music and entertainment. Enjoy folk music from the Mountain Dulcimer
Society of
Dayton, a unique production by the Civic Theatre or just sit a spell
with our
200-year-old pioneer volunteers in the Log House. Try your hand at
candle-making, tinsmithing and more! Take a stroll through the 18th
century
encampment and watch a tomahawk & knife throwing competition.
Participate
in a pie-baking contest or take a stroll along the non-profit food
vendors for
a wide range of tasty treats! Take a load off as you enjoy fresh
produce from
Downing's Fruit Farm. Try your luck at the annual basket raffle and so
much

Fruit and Fun Farm

Entertainment for the entire family can be found at "Darke County's
Agricultural Playground"! Activities include... hayrides to the Kinda
Kooky Korn maze and pumpkin patch, as well as Monster Mountain,
Storybook
Forest, Ghost Town Stage, Grandpa's Fun Acres (petting zoo and
playground for
the kids, young and old), Willy Worm's Wagon Express, Kid's Korral,
Ole'
Fishin' Hole (complete with pond and campfire sites), Farmer's Daughter
Bakery
and Brumbaugh's Market can be explored on this family-owned and
operated farm
in Arcanum, Ohio. Hours are seasonal. In-season hours are Saturdays
from 11:00
am to 7:00 pm and Sundays 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Admission is $8 for
those over 3
years of age and under 64. The bakery hours are 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
every day.

Bear's
Mill
Friday,
Saturday and Sunday 11-5.
Built in 1849, this water powered flour mill is an authentic example of
a stone
grinding mill of its time. Placed on the National Register of Historic
Places
in 1977, it is still in use today to grind a variety of local grains.
Self-guided tours may be taken during normal business hours with guided
tours
available by appointment. The Mill Store and Gallery offers original
art, local
handmade pottery, unique accessories and jewelry, Bears Mill
stoneground flours
and private labeled food products to pamper. Admission is free. Call

Garst
Museum

12-4.The Garst Museum offers over 35,000 square feet of exhibit space
within
six building wings. Featured are The National Annie Oakley Center and
the
foremost collection dedicated to the life of Annie Oakley. The museums
major
exhibits include The Annie Oakley Center, the Treaty of Green Ville and
Mad
Anthony Wayne, Tecumseh and Native Americans, Lowell Thomas, an
extensive
military collection, period American furnishings, county history, and
agricultural artifacts. The museum also offers a well-staffed genealogy
