Tickets
now on sale for upcoming DCCA season
Individual
tickets are now on sale for Darke
County Center for the Arts 2013-2014 Artists Series, as well as their
Family
Theatre Series, Coffee House Series, and other events. According to
DCCA
Executive Director Andrea Jordan, the theme for the upcoming season
promises “a
journey of growth through the arts,” and invites one and all to “come
along for
the ride.” “Our season is fantastically filled with sights to see and
experiences you do not want to miss,” Ms. Jordan stated. Keith Rawlins,
DCCA
Artistic Director, adds that the journey through the arts has no end,
just
great stops along the way that provide life-enhancing memories to last
a
lifetime.
DCCA's
Artists Series opens Saturday, September
14 with “Passing Zone,” a sensational duo who perform comedy
while also
executing jaw-dropping juggling tricks. “These lively, personable,
funny, funny
guys defy gravity, sending knives, chainsaws, and people traveling
through the
air, inducing audiences to gasp with laughter and awe,” Mr. Rawlins
remarked.
“Passing Zone” members Owen Morse and John Wee have been featured on
TV,
performed at prestigious half-time shows, and appeared in movies; DCCA
officials say that this show provides delightful entertainment which
can be
enjoyed by all ages.
The
Artists Series continues with an encore
appearance by concert pianist Alpin Hong onSaturday, March 8, whose
previous
performance here won enthusiastic acclaim and patron demands for a
swift
return. “Alpin's extraordinary talent is matched by his charismatic
personality, appealing to the iPod generation as well as to lovers of
Bach,
Beethoven, and Gershwin,” Ms. Jordan said.
DCCA
executives expressed excitement over
snagging legendary songstress Melissa Manchester for a concert
on Saturday, April 5. “Her rich catalogue of hits includes
songs to
captivate almost everyone,” Ms. Jordan explained. “Melissa Manchester's
career
spans more than three decades and her major hits including “Don't Cry
Out Loud”
and “Midnight Blue” appeal to generations of fans,” she added.
DCCA's
Artists Series concludes
on Saturday, May 3, when the Toledo Symphony Orchestra returns
to present
“The Music of Mozart.” “Mozart's music expresses joy, sorrow, and humor
like no
other composer's,” said Mr. Rawlins. “And TSO's joyful playing will
take
listeners down unexpected and yet familiar paths, for an appropriate
close to
our season taking audiences on a fantastic journey,” Ms. Jordan chimed
in.
Tickets
for “Passing Zone” and the Alpin Hong
concert are $20 each; Melissa Manchester and Toledo Symphony Orchestra
tickets
cost $30. Season tickets are also available, offering all four shows
for $80.
