LWV to offer
educational forum on fracking
The League of Women voters of Darke County is presenting an educational
forum about fracking. The meeting will be on Monday, March 18
from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 114 East
Fourth Street in Greenville.
Speakers for the event will be Joe Logan with the Agricultural Division
of the Ohio Environmental Council and Julie Weatherington-Rice,
scientist and adjunct professor at The Ohio State University. She
is also a leading expert on aquifers and water preservation in Ohio,
having been part of the team who mapped out the area’s sole-source
aquifer. Both have been involved with investigating the fracking
and waste-water injection issues that are occurring throughout Ohio.
A question and answer period will follow. No questions will be
screened. This informational meeting is open to the public.
