2013
The Year of the Contests
This
year the Annie Oakley Festival will become known as the Year of the
Contests. We
started the annual event
with a T-Shirt design contest in which Brent Welborn of Covington won
with the
winning entry. His design will be available on the 50th Anniversary
T-Shirts
during the festival.
The
deadline for the Miss Annie Shooting Contest is fast approaching.
Wednesday,
July 10 at 6pm. No Exceptions. Applications are available from the
forms page
on our web site at: www.annieoakleyfestival.org.
All of the shooting contest is open
to the public with no admission charged.
The
Miss Annie Oakley Shooting and Costume contest begins on Wednesday,
July 10 at
6pm for a mandatory publicity photo shoot at the Annie Oakley Park
Statue at
6pm in downtown Greenville. Then
the
shooting practice will be held at the fairgrounds on Tuesday, July 23
at 6pm,
with the shooting preliminaries held the next night, Wednesday, July 24
at 6pm,
at the fairgrounds. The
winners of the
preliminaries will have a shoot off on Thursday, July 25 at 6pm.
We
have added a Horseshoe Pitching Tournament this year in addition to our
cornhole tournament. Both contests will be held on Saturday. Cornhole
at 2pm
and Horseshoe Pitching at 1pm. These contests are being sponsored by
Captain
D’s Seafood. Entry forms available from the forms page on our web site.
The
Annie Oakley Committee and The Bootery have partnered to bring a New
Ugly Boot
contest to the Annie Oakley Festival.
Contest
is open to Anyone, Any age. No Entry Fee.
Rules:
Any
type of boot can be entered.
Any
size can be entered.
Only
one entry per exhibitor.
The
Annie Oakley Committee is not responsible for any lost or stolen ugly
boots.
Ugly
boots must be displayed during the duration of the festival.
Judging
will be based on the ugliness of the boot.
Decision of the Annie Oakley Committee is
final.
Enter
your ugly boot at the Fine Arts building at the Darke County
Fairgrounds on
Tues 4 to 8pm or on Wed 9 to 11am. Your entry must remain on display
until
pickup on Sun 1 to 3pm.

Place Winner will receive a ribbon and $15.00
2nd
Place will receive a ribbon and $10.00, 3rd Place ribbon and $5.00

The
‘Aim For A High Mark’ Essay Contest is sponsored by Darke County Guns
and Ammo,
109 S Main Street, Ansonia, Ohio and very fitting for a contest about
our own
‘Little Sure Shot.’
Three
prizes will be awarded; 1st is $75.00, 2nd is $50.00, and 3rd is $25.00.
Entries
have been received and are currently being judged. The three winners
will read
their essay at Annie Oakley’s gravesite during the annual festival
pilgrimage.
Featured speaker for the pilgrimage will be representative, Jim Buchy.
This
will be held on July 24, 2013 approx 7:30pm,the Pilgrimage leaves the
fairgrounds and travels by private vehicle to the gravesite at Brock
Cemetery.
Everyone is invited to participate.
The
Photo contest is sponsored this year by Timothy Clopp Photography of
Arcanum.
The rules are the same as last year. You can drop off your entries at
the fine
arts building on the fairgrounds between 4 and 7pm on Tuesday, July 23
or
between 9 and 11am on Wednesday, July 24. Cash prizes will be awarded
to the
winners.

up your weekend pass to attend this years festival at the following

office, AAA,
Granny’s Corner, and Main Street Greenville all on Broadway. Barga

Marathon in Gettysburg. Pay only $2 for the three day pass and all of
the
entertainment including the Melodrama, the 11th Annie Oakley Western
Arts
Showcase with the National Whip Speed & Accuracy and
International Bullwhip
