Farm
Power of the Past July 11-14
If
you haven’t marked your calendars for this year’s Greenville
Farm Power of the Past, it’s time to get that done!
The annual show opens on July 11 and
continues through July 14 at the Darke County Fairgrounds in
Greenville,
Ohio.
From
the street you may see row upon row of antique tractors, but
that is only the beginning. There
are
hundreds of gas engines - the small engines that ran many machines in
early
households and factories, garden tractors galore, exhibits of horse
drawn
equipment, flea market vendors selling a wide variety of items,
tempting aromas
wafting from the food vendors - - and that’s just for starters.
Demonstrations
daily include cutting logs at the sawmill operation,
threshing wheat, corn shredding, and all of the activity at the gas
engine
area. Friday night
features the annual
DCTPA truck and tractor pull. Saturday
morning
is the antique tractor pull, Saturday afternoon is the Kiddie Tractor
Pull, Saturday
late afternoon and early evening are the pony and heavyweight horse
pulls, and
Sunday afternoon is the garden tractor pull.
Don’t forget music all Saturday afternoon and
evening in the Ohio Center
or the quilting going on in the Fine Arts Building on Friday and
Saturday
afternoons. There
is a church service on
Sunday morning at 10:00 and the 10th Annual Car Show and Cruz-in runs
from 9:00
AM to 3:00 PM. Can
you think of a better
place to be?
Admission
for ages 12 and up is $4.00 per day or $6.00 for a four
day pass, and kids under 12 are admitted free.
Camping on the fairgrounds is available, too. More information is
available at www.greenvillefarmpower.org.
If
you’ve never been there, this could just be the year to come and
check it out!!!
