ODJFS
Hosts Third Annual Career Fair at the Ohio State Fair
COLUMBUS,
OHIO – Over the course of the 2013 Ohio State Fair, more
than 100 employers are accepting resumes, conducting interviews and
hiring new
employees inside the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS)
booth
in the Marketplace Building.
For
the third year in a row, ODJFS and the Central Ohio Workforce
Investment Corporation (COWIC) are hosting a career fair featuring
numerous
Central Ohio employers. The career fair began on July 24 and will run
through
August 3. Between three and six employers are onsite from 10:30 a.m. to
7 p.m.
on each of those days.
“Every
one of these employers has openings they are currently
looking to fill, and some are hiring on the spot,” said ODJFS Director
Michael
Colbert. “If you’re not from Central Ohio, our staff will help you
register for
a free OhioMeansJobs account and begin searching for job openings in
your
area.”
“This
is an example of how our local OhioMeansJobs Centers are
working with the state to make sure that Ohioans have access to the
jobs that
are available,” said COWIC President and CEO Suzanne Coleman-Tolbert.
“It’s
about meeting people where they are, and employers realize that coming
to the
fair is a great way to access talent from all over our state.”
A
complete list of employers scheduled to attend the career fair
is available by clicking the “State Fair Career Fair” link on the “Job
Seeker”
page at www.OhioMeansJobs.com.
In
addition to the career fair, state fair visitors can also learn
about and apply for other ODJFS programs, including food assistance,
cash
assistance and unemployment compensation.
