Darke County
Republican Party
Taylor
Keynote Speaker at annual Lincoln Day Dinner
“The Darke
County Republican Party is so very happy that Ohio’s Lt. Governor Mary
Taylor will
be the keynote speaker at its Lincoln Day Dinner this year. She is such
a
vibrant personality, we are looking forward to hosting her.” said Cindy
Pike,
Chair of the Darke County Republican Executive Committee.
The Darke
County Republican Party will be hosting its Lincoln Day event on March
20 at
Romer’s Entertainment Facility, 118 East Main Street in Greenville.
There will
be a reception immediately preceding the dinner. Reception will begin
at 5 p.m.
and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Attendance at each event is by paid RSVP only.
Mary Taylor is
the product of hard work, determination, personal accountability and a
family
that has supported her and guided her every step of the way. She grew
up in
northeast Ohio, attended Springfield Local Schools and, even at a young
age,
she demonstrated a devotion to her local community. It’s where she has
lived
her entire life.
Mary Taylor
helped put herself through college at the University of Akron working
in the
accounting department of the local bank. She developed a bond with a
supervisor
and mentor, who encouraged her to study accounting and taxation, which
is
exactly what she did.
After
graduation, Mary was hired by one of the nation’s top accounting firms.
Later,
her work ethic and perseverance helped propel her to senior manager at
a local
accounting firm and she quickly made a name for herself in her
profession.
Mary has
spent the better part of two decades as a wife, mother and certified
public
accountant. When her local community began experiencing unprecedented
growth
and development, she got involved, accepted a seat on city council and
spoke up
for neighboring families and small businesses. It was the foundation of
what is
turning out to be an impeccable career in public service.
Mary Taylor
took her local experiences to Columbus in 2003 where she served two
terms in
the state legislature. On November 7, 2006, voters made history by
electing
Mary Taylor the first certified public accountant to serve as Auditor
of State
and she has provided the type of leadership Ohioans expect from their
elected
officials.
Taylor was
sworn in as Ohio’s 65th Lieutenant Governor on January 10, 2011, the
same day
Governor John R. Kasich named her to lead CSI Ohio – the
“Common Sense
Initiative” to reform Ohio’s regulatory policies, as well as to serve
as the
director of the Ohio Department of Insurance. These two assignments
dovetail
together and provide the perfect launching pad for working to make Ohio
a jobs
– and business – friendly state. CSI Ohio reviews Ohio’s regulatory
system to
eliminate excessive and duplicative rules that stand in the way of job
creation
and the regulatory mission of the Department of Insurance is a good
place to
start.
She’s been called an “expert” on state budget issues by the Columbus
Dispatch
and her hometown newspaper – the Suburbanite – called her one of Summit
County’s “most influential women.” Taylor, 45, is a life-long resident
of
northeast Ohio where she lives with her husband, Don, and their sons,
Michael
and Joe.
