presents Carpe Diem
String Quartet in local high schools
Columbus-based
Carpe Diem
String Quartet will perform for high school students in all Darke
County and
Greenville City schools from October 7 through October 10 as part of
the Arts
In Education program presented by Darke County Center for the Arts.
“These
world-class, award-winning musicians are dedicated to enthusiastically
sharing
the joy of music with everyone regardless of age, social station, or
economic
demographic, ” said Andrea Jordan, DCCA Executive Director, “Their
adventurous
programming exhibits their commitment to seizing the day; we are
thrilled to
present artists of this caliber in our local schools,” Ms. Jordan
continued.
These programs are free and open to the public.
Carpe
Diem String Quartet
consists of Charles Wetherbee and Amy Galluzzo on violin, Korine
Fujiwara
playing viola, and cellist Carol Ou. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the
ensemble is
known for their commitment to community engagement, and regularly
performs
programs specifically designed to relate to diverse audiences and
establish the
relevance of chamber music to people's lives. Carpe Diem String Quartet
has
earned widespread critical and audience acclaim with their eclectic
repertoire
and engaging, electrifying performances.
DCCA's
Arts In Education
program annually presents high quality performing artists for students
in all
grades of each local public school. AIE is sponsored by Target, DP
& L
Company Foundation, Vectren Foundation, Greenville Federal, Maid Rite
Sandwich
Shoppe, The Andersons, Edison State Community College, Darke Rural
Electric
Trust, BASF, Family Health, Littman-Thomas Agency, and Mercer Savings
Bank.
Additional funding is provided from DCCA memberships and the schools.
The Ohio
Arts Council helped fund this program with state tax dollars to
encourage
economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all
Ohioans. DCCA also receives operating support from the Harry D. and
Esther
Stephens Memorial as well as funding from the Ketrow Foundation and
Lydia E.
Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund.

ensemble will also perform at Montage Cafe in downtown Greenville on
Thursday,
October 10 at 7 p.m. as part of DCCA's casual Coffeehouse Series.
Tickets for
the Coffeehouse show are $10, and can be reserved by contacting DCCA.
If any
remain by showtime, tickets may also be purchased at the door the night
of the
performance.
