Garst Museum Presents
a Free Program on the Death of Tecumseh
On Sunday,
October 20,
2013, the Garst Museum will present the first lecture of the 2013-14
series. Frank Kuron will present Thus Fell Tecumseh at 2:00 pm.
Frank
Kuron authored
his first book titled, “Thus Fell Tecumseh” in 2011. His book
chronicles the battles and hardships of forces on both sides of the
conflict in the year-and-a-half leading up to the Battle of the
Thames in October of 1813 where the great Shawnee chief Tecumseh was
killed. Over 160 primary accounts from diaries, newspapers and
letters of troops involved at the Thames provide the reader with the
opportunity to solve the 200-year-old historical mystery of how and
by whose hand Tecumseh was slain. The presentation will review many
of these eyewitness testimonies of Tecumseh’s death and highlight
why this event is still unsolvable and so controversial.
Frank, a
lifelong
resident of Toledo, Ohio, has been a graphic artist for 35 years and
an early American history enthusiast even longer. He also writes War
of 1812 themed history columns for the Toledo Free Press newspaper.
He currently is researching material for his next book about the
frontier life of early America.
Admission
to the
Sunday, October 20, 2:00 p.m. program is free and open to the public,
however normal admission fees apply to tour the museum. Support for
the Garst Lecture Series comes, in part, from the Harry D. Stephens
Memorial Trust, Inc.
