SUNshine
5K Run is Sept. 28
Come out to Greenville City
Park on Saturday, September 28 for a festive 5K event organized by
the HOPE Foundation of Darke County. For just $15 (with registration
by Sept. 16), runners and walkers can enjoy a quality 5K race with
electronic chip timing, a bright technical t-shirt, great door
prizes, and a variety of post-race drinks, snacks and homemade
cookies. There’s still time to get in condition to run or walk your
personal best time! Proceeds from the event support scholarships to
Darke County students and community grants to local non-profit
organizations.
To register, visit the HOPE
Foundation website at www.hopedarkecounty.com.
Entry fee is $15 (with tech t-shirt) by Sept. 16 and $20 after Sept.
16 (t-shirt not guaranteed). Kids 800-meter fun run is $3 or $8 (with
cotton t-shirt). Free childcare during the race is provided. The
kids run starts at 8:20 am, and the 5K starts at 8:30 am.
Major sponsors of the
SUNshine 5K include Reid Hospital, Orthopedic Associates of Southwest
Ohio, and Wayne HealthCare. The SUNshine 5K is part of the Wayne
HealthCare Challenge “Get Moving” Series.
The SUNshine 5K has
operated the past 7 years as Mandy’s Sunshine Run, in memory of
10-year-old Mandy Green who died in 2005. The HOPE Foundation is
carrying on Mandy’s legacy by designating a portion of the proceeds
to the new Mandy Green Memorial Fund, which will support community
projects and organizations that were meaningful to Mandy.
As the community foundation
of Darke County, the HOPE Foundation receives, administers and
distributes charitable gifts for the benefit of Darke County
residents. For more information, call 548-HOPE or visit
