Volunteers/organizations
make Tour a great event
ARCANUM
– It takes a great group of organizers and volunteers to prepare
for the annual Tour de Donut. Leading the pack is Rocketship Sports
Management, an Ohio 501c3 not for profit corporation that owns the
event. This is a non-profit event and there are no sponsorships. Fees
from riders pay for everything associated with the event, including
$5,000 for donuts in 2012.
The
all volunteer crew includes Roger Bowersock, president of Rocketship
Sports; Christina Bowersock, day to day operations manager of the
ride, in addition to registration, graphics, website, and clothing
designer; Tom Wesner, maintenance, full time job of building
signs/repairing equipment, and he oversees Bears Mill donut stop.
Additional
key persons and organizations responsible for making this event
successful are the Arcanum Business Association that allows the tour
to take over the town for the event. Mayor Judy Fourman through her
vision and permission allowed the Tour de Donut to find a permanent
home in Arcanum. The Arcanum High School Band/A# band boosters have
helped with the ride for four years. They help with registration on
Friday and Saturday and run the Bears Mill donut stop in addition to
playing the National Anthem prior to the start. Arcanum-Butler
Schools allows us to use the Fieldhouse. Franklin Monroe Schools
allows them to the use the school and the basketball team for Donut
stop #2.
