Valentines Day, February 14th
Darke
County Civic Theater and Darke County Humane Society will be
presenting "A romantic evening with laughter" this
Valentines Day, February 14th. The evening will begin at 7 p.m., at
Paws Bingo Hall and is sure to be a romantic evening filled with a
lot of fun.
The
evening will begin with an hour of hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and
socializing. After this, Darke County Civic Theater will present two
one act plays that center around the topics of love. The first is
entitled "WANTED: One Groom" by Claudene Rease. The story
follows young but hopeful Kayla (Laura Francis), who's parents
(Connie DeSchepper and Jim Bruney) met through a classified ad and
have been happily married for many years. Kayla and her parents
decide that this would be a great option for her as well, so she
calls over her best friend (Arianna Kinner) to discuss the
arrangements. The doorbell rings. A young gentleman (Trevor
DeSchepper), who just happens to be eligible, is answering an ad...
for an antique statue! Through a hilarious conversation laced with
double meanings, the prospective buyer becomes the prospective groom!
The
second show is entitled "SPEED DATE" By Janet Allard. It's
Valentine's Day and the pressure is on. John (Chris Phillips) and
Laura (Nicole Scott) are looking for their perfect match. What they
get is seventeen crazy characters in search for love in a round-robin
game of speed dating. Everyone in on the action: a girl who's always
a bridesmaid, never a bride (Karen Hamilton), a clown (Sandy
Hartley), a Frenchman (Matt Cline), a sassy recently divorced woman
(Joy Thompson), a lady obsessed with her cats (Taylor Dorn), a movie
buff (Jessie Clark), and many others.
The
event hall will be set for a romantic evening and everyone is welcome
to attend. Tickets are just $14 and include hors d'oeuvres, desert,
one drink and two plays. There will be a cash bar available serving
beer and wine for that extra romantic touch.
Whether
you need a night out with your lover this Valentines Day or a nice
night out with friends, there is something for everyone. Tickets are
