“The Cavern Beat”
Returning to The Gathering at Garst
The Cavern Beat will return
to The Gathering at Garst for a repeat performance on Saturday July
26, 2014. This will be the Beatles tribute band’s third year to
perform at The Gathering at Garst thanks to the Dan Summer’s
Memorial sponsorship. Dan was married to Pam Carpenter, a Greenville
native, and now resides in San Diego. Pam and Dan loved Greenville
and its rich history. After Dan’s passing, Pam wanted to remember
his passion for life by making sure his memory lives on. When asked
if she would like to sponsor the concert again Pam’s reply was, “I
love Greenville, I love The Gathering at Garst, and I love The Cavern
Beat. I would be honored to sponsor it again in Dan’s memory.”
This will be a year to
celebrate special anniversaries for The Gathering at Garst. The theme
this year is “Native American Peace and Friendship Gathering” as
we reflect on the second signing of The Treaty of Greenville which
took place 200 years ago on July 22, 1814. Many activities and
ceremonies are planned in the living history encampment to honor this
anniversary. In addition, the other anniversary that is taking place
this year is the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’
debut
performance on “The Ed Sullivan Show” which was on Feb. 9,
1964. During the Saturday evening concert, The Cavern Beat will bring
back those great memories as they play many of the great Beatles
songs.
Mark your calendars now for
a wonderful weekend of great entertainment as the 4th Gathering at
Garst takes place on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27.
Additional musical artists will be performing throughout the two-day
event. Be sure to visit our website at www.gatheringatgarst.com for
