DCCA presents Seussical
Darke County Center for the
Arts will open their 2013-14 Family Theatre Series at Henry St. Clair
Memorial Hall in Greenville on January 26 with Theatreworks USA's
production of Seussical, a musical based on the beloved works of Dr.
Seuss. “This delightful musical will thrill youngsters and charm
adults,” said DCCA Executive Director Andrea Jordan. “The
production is Theatreworks' biggest show ever, and plays much larger
venues at much higher prices; DCCA is proud and excited to be
presenting Seussical at our regular low ticket price of $5,” Mrs.
Jordan stated. The show starts at 2 p.m.
Adapted for young audiences
from the original Broadway version by the show's creators, Seussical
is recommended for ages 4 and up. Popular Seuss creation “The Cat
in the Hat” plays host and emcee as the show moves through several
well-known stories. Horton hears a cry for help coming from a small
speck of dust, and audiences follow the exploits of the sweet,
good-natured elephant as he works to rescue what turns out to be the
entire population of Who-ville. Several other Dr. Seuss classic
characters become intertwined in this incredibly crazy-quilt
adventure as imaginative complications arise.
DCCA's Family Theatre
Series is sponsored by Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation,
Second National Bank, Greenville Federal, Darke Rural Electric Trust,
Edison Community College, The Andersons Inc., Dr. Doug Gordon, Jordan
Insurance Agency, Wayne Healthcare, Greenville Kiwanis Club,
Greenville Rotary Club, and Dan and Marty Schipfer. Additionally,
support for Family Theatre is received from Ketrow Foundation, Lydia
E. Schaurer Memorial Trust, Jean Louise Thieme Fund of the Hope
Foundation, and the Greyson James Steyer Fund. DCCA also receives
operating support from the Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial and
the Ohio Arts Council, a state agency that supports public programs
in the arts.
