BORM
Dining by Rail
The
Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum is gearing up for the 2014 season. The
first event on the calendar is Dining By Rail. The museum is making
the final plans for the Annual Fund Raising Dinner and Silent Auction
April 12, 2014.
This
is the third year for the event and will be held at Turtle Creek Golf
Club on US 36 Greenville, Ohio. The railroads were known for their
fine dining. There was always china, fresh linens and fresh flowers
on every table. The railroad lines would compete for the best service
and meals. Dining By Rail captures some of the railroad dining car
experience. The entertainment will be provided by Joseph Helfrich a
local musician and entertainer. The dinner will feature entrees from
the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Great Northern Railroad and the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The recipes are taken from the Dining By
Rail book authored by rail historian James Porterfield. Mr.
Porterfield has put together recipes and menus form the rail lines
and some history on the golden age of railroad cuisine.
The
silent auction is a very popular and competitive event that completes
the evening. There will be something for every age group among the
items. The museum wishes to thank so many organizations for their
contributions to the auction. Patty's IGA, Flora's Service. Shingdig
Tours, The Cincinnati Reds, King's Island. Turtle Creek Golf Club,
Springfield Symphony, The Refectory, Young's Dairy, Meijer's, Bill
Cox, Joanna Pittenger, Sharon Plessinger, Boring & Associates.
Ron Hoelscher.
A
