BORM to depict
scale model railroad
The Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum’s N- Scale model of the rail yards is
nearing completion. Mike Desch and Rick Miller have been working on the
model for over one year.
The museum will depict the yards around the turn of the 20th century.
The Bradford Rail Yard was rebuilt by the Federal Railroad
Administration in 1917 when the railroad operation was taken over for
the War effort. The N-Scale will be operational with an active
turntable to demonstrate the hostler’s job of serving the engines.
There was once over 60 miles of track in the middle of Bradford. There
was a railroad Y.M.C.A. that was used by the railroaders as their home
away from home. It stood in the middle of the yards and was the hub of
social activities. The N-Scale will be on permanent display at the
museum.
The debut will be April 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. when the museum opens its
2014 season.
The museum has planned a working model for some time. With the hard
work and contribution of Rick Miller and Mike Desch the plan is now a
reality.
The museum is open Saturdays from 10 am - 1 pm and Sunday 1 pm- 4 pm.
Photos depict the work so far. The complete model will be ready for the
opening.
