Edison
Foundation Hosts 17th Annual Holiday Evening Event
The 17th annual Holiday Evening event, to be held on Thursday, December
4, will feature The Manhattan Transfer, a highly regarded jazz–vocal
group. This event directly supports Edison’s General Scholarship Fund,
which provides financial assistance to traditional and non-traditional
students in support of their academic pursuits.
Holiday Evening is the perfect way to kick-off the holidays and help
support more than 3,900 students who attend classes at Edison annually.
The evening’s festivities begin with hors de ‘oeuvres at 6:30 p.m.,
followed by a special performance from The Manhattan Transfer at 8
p.m., and concludes with desserts and coffee.
Few jazz–vocal groups have a more illustrious history than the
Manhattan Transfer. Originally formed in 1972, their initial success
came with their self-titled debut album, which featured their first top
hit, “Operator”. Today, the group performs sold-out shows and has
reached a whole new level of crowd-pleasing entertainment by drawing
from musical styles such as swing, modern jazz, and doo-wop and
transforming them into their own distinctive style.
