A Time For
Community Sharing
A Free Thanksgiving Dinner
Family gatherings for Thanksgiving dinners
are being planned, but there are some people with no plans. The reasons
may vary -- some travel to visit family for the day, and others may
just not have the means for which to prepare a festive dinner.
“This is where the idea for a free Community Thanksgiving Dinner came
from”, says organizer, Dean’a Cook.
This is the second year for the dinner held on Thanksgiving Day at the
Franklin-Monroe Schools in Pitsburg from 11:30 to 1:00pm.
“Last year was a wonderful success”, says Cook. “Approximately 60 meals
were served. It was great to see the community come together to share a
delicious meal”, she added.
This year’s menu includes: ham, turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy,
corn, green beans, dinner rolls, fruit salad and dessert. It is a
community effort, many of the local churches support this event with
preparation of food, handing out fliers and serving the dinner.
Local business and organizations which have also contributed include:
Meijer, Pitsburg Lions Club, Cooper Farms, Harvest Land, Farmer Browns,
and Prairie Star Farms, LLC.
Please call Dean’a Cook at 937-621-7331 soon to make reservations for
your family so we can prepare enough food for everyone to enjoy. We
know this will be a wonderful time to give thanks for friends, family
and sharing in this community event.
