DCCA presents
"A Taste of Wine and Zydeco"
Darke County Center for the Arts will host a fund raising party
featuring the music of Zydeco legend Terrance Simien and his Zydeco
Experience band at Montage Cafe in downtown Greenville on Halloween,
Friday, October 31. “To say that DCCA is absolutely thrilled to present
this world-famous Grammy-award winning artist in an intimate venue like
Montage would be a vast understatement,” said DCCA Artistic Director
Keith Rawlins. “It's always a party when Terrance plays his
Louisiana-based music; so you can dress up like it's Mardi Gras, wear
Mardi Gras beads, come in costume, or just attend as you are, but you
are guaranteed a good time at this event,” Rawlins stated.
Zydeco is the music of the French-speaking Creoles of South Louisiana
whose unique blend of cultures form a cultural “gumbo” with a long rich
history. The infectious and inviting music is enhanced by Terrance
Simien's dynamic personality, drawing audiences into the groove of his
memorable rootsy sound. His music has provided the soundtrack to
several movies including The Lucky One starring Zac Efron and Disney's
The Princess and the Frog. Cox Insurance, James and Julia Poeppleman
and The Andersons Marathon LLC are sponsoring this performance by
Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience.
“A Taste of Wine and Zydeco” provides a casual social setting where
attendees can enjoy music, discover varying attributes of fine wines,
and at the same time provide support for DCCA's cultural programming.
Montage Cafe will prepare an exciting array of hors d'oeuvres to
complement the Louisiana-flavored music as well as the evening's wine
selections. The party begins at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets to “A Taste of Wine and Zydeco” are $35 each, and are available
at Montage and at DCCA's office inside Greenville Public Library as
well as on-line at www.centerforarts.net. For more information, contact
DCCA at 937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net.
