Featured Event
Illumination Festival 2014 will take place at the Darke County
Fairgrounds on September 21 featuring Tenth Avenue North, Britt Nicole,
Plumb, Rhett Walker Band, Jonathan Thulin,and Splat Experience!
Now in its eighth year, the Illumination Festival has expanded and is
now a two-day event with the first day, Saturday, September 20 geared
toward youth. The event also includes “5K Run in the Darke” as a part
of the Wayne Health Care Challenge. Tickets are still available, visit

You're invited to Prairie Days, Saturday & Sunday, September 27
& 28, Enjoy a weekend celebrating prairies and the pioneer way of
life. See apple butter being made over the fire, play children’s
pioneer games, take a horse and wagon ride, compete in foot races and
seed-spitting contests, view local artists’ works, listen to and enjoy
live music and entertainment. New this year, vendors from the regional
Gourd Society will have their artwork on display. Admission and parking

Brumbaugh Fruit & Fun Farm
Now through November 3
Saturdays, 11 am - 7 pm
Sundays, Noon - 7 pm
Always good things to eat and fun things to do at this family-owned
farm located just outside of Arcanum. Bring the entire family to enjoy
hayrides, corn maze, pumpkin patch, monster mountain and other fun
activities. Admission: $8 per person. Those ages 3 and under, and 65
and older are admitted at no charge.

Art at The Mill
Monday - Sunday
11 am - 5 pm
The monthly "Art at the Mill" series features the work of an artist who
creates three-dimensional pieces alongside complementary
two-dimensional fine art. Wood sculptures by Tom Bartel will be
displayed alongside the watercolors of Peter Frederick at Historic
Bear's Mill through September 21. For more information on this historic

Log House & Blacksmith Shop Open at Shawnee Prairie
September 13, 20 & 27
1 - 4 pm
Every Saturday in September, travel back to the 18th century to explore
the Log House and the Blacksmith Shop at Shawnee Prairie Preserve. The
sound of hammers and anvil will be ringing as the smiths prepare new
material for the Log House. The Pioneers in the Log House will be
working on their daily chores just like in the 1700’s. For more
