Annual Nature
Day Coming Soon
A fun filled family event is once again taking place at your Darke
County Parks. The ever-popular Nature Day begins at 10am on
Saturday, April 25. Bring the family to Shawnee Prairie Preserve to
take part in a passport to adventure. Participants will receive a
‘passport’ that can be stamped at the completion of each station.
Upon completion of all of the stations, a pair of binoculars will be
awarded! Participants must take part in all of the activities at
each station to earn their stamp.
Some of the stations explorations included in this free event will be
mud, honeybees, birds, dandelions, habitat healing, prairie plantings
and more. Along with the stations a free concert begins at noon
with Chris Rowlands, award winning singer, naturalist and
educator. The Friends of Darke County Parks will be offering a
hot dog lunch for a donation.
In addition, the Native Plant sale begins at 10am as well. Choose
from a variety of native prairie and shade plants until sold out.
