American Red
Cross Lifesaving Courses
Adult and pediatric first aid, CPR and AED courses are scheduled
Troy, OH (April 6, 2015) – The weather is getting nicer, which means
it’s time to start the springtime activities such as mowing the lawn,
gardening, grilling and kids playing on the playground. But consider
this:
70,000 people are injured annually mowing their lawn
200,000 children are injured annually on playgrounds
30,000 people are injured annually falling off ladders
Spring can be dangerous! Who knew? Fortunately, The American Red Cross
has the answer. Adult and pediatric first aid, CPR and AED courses are
being offered in Troy on Saturday, April 25, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at
the Northern Miami Valley Chapter at 1314 Barnhart Rd.
Also available are courses at Springfield: Adult and pediatric first
aid, CPR and AED courses are being offered in Springfield on Monday,
April 20, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Clark County Chapter at 1830 N.
Limestone St.
Signing up is easy—just go to RedCross.org—and then you can rest easy
knowing you will be able to help your neighbor who is firing up his
grill for the first time, or the child who is bleeding from falling off
the monkey bars. This spring, you will be more than ready for the nice
weather; you’ll be trained for safety.
In addition to the classroom lessons, the course includes a pre-class
learning component. Rather than the standard “read and take a
multiple-choice quiz” formula, the Red Cross took a page from the Xbox
and Wii generation and students now use an interactive, animated,
virtual learning formula. In short, they learn the basics of saving a
life by playing a game in which they must respond to a real-life
emergency. This is the first course using the simulation learning.
The courses result in a two-year Red Cross certification. The prices
for the courses range from $55 to $85, depending on the courses chosen.
Advanced registration is required. To register for a class or find more
information, call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcross.org/take-a-class.
