High School Students to Compete in Art Competition
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) today
released a video message inviting 8th Congressional District high
school students to participate in the 2015 Congressional Art
Competition, An Artistic Discovery.
All artwork must be submitted to Rep. Boehner’s Butler County, Clark
County, or Miami County district office by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
April 8, 2015. Artwork will be displayed at the Middletown Arts Center,
located at 130 N. Verity Blvd., Middletown, OH, 45042, from April 15,
2015, to April 30, 2015.
An awards ceremony will be held at the Middletown Arts Center on
Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Grand Prize entry will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The
winner will receive two round-trip plane tickets courtesy of a national
airline to attend an awards ceremony with winners from other
congressional districts in Washington, D.C., in June, and will be
eligible for a $3000/year scholarship to a renowned college of arts and
design.
The First Place entry will hang in the Office of the Speaker of the
House for one year.
Competition Guidelines:
8th District high school students (currently enrolled in grades nine
through twelve) may submit up to three pieces for judging. Students
will only be eligible for one award each, however.
Two groups will be judged: photography and “other media.” Each group
will be awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and honorable mention(s) awards. The
grand prize winner will be chosen between the two first place winners.

Each piece can be no larger than 28x 28x 4 (including the frame) and
