Edison To Host Annual Career Expo

Edison Community College will host its annual Career Expo Tuesday, March 17, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. in the North Hall of the Piqua campus.

More than 50 organizations ranging from business, construction, financial services, health care, manufacturing, retail, social services, and the armed forces are expected to be in attendance, representing a wide range of job opportunities for west central Ohio area residents.

“We are looking forward to another successful and well-attended Career Expo,” said Morgan Abney, Coordinator of Career Services. “We’re pleased to see that we have many companies represented that have not participated in the past. There will be over twenty new participants in attendance this year.”

More than 400 job seekers are expected to attend the free event. Representatives from organizations including American Honda Motor Company, Inc., Cargill, Inc., Crown Equipment, Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., Fair Haven Shelby County Home, Ferguson Construction Company, Hartzell Industries, Home Experts Reality, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Premier Health, RK Hydro-Vac, Inc. and many others will be present. There will also be staffing services present, representing some of the major employers in the area.

“A job fair is an excellent way to personally meet employers and recruiters, network, submit your resume, and make a great first impression,” added Abney. “Having that face-to-face contact gives candidates a real advantage when compared with submitting a resume electronically.”

Edison’s Career Services department provides resources to students, alumni and the community in the areas of career searching and advising. Individuals are invited to the department for guidance as they consider a career change or experience a job loss. Skilled career advisors are available to guide them through a career assessment process and introduce them to resources with significant data on career fields and the job market. Resources can also be accessed online at www.edisonohio.edu/career.

The Career Expo is sponsored by Edison Community College, the Upper Valley Career Center, Ohio Means Jobs, and Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities. Miami and Shelby County representatives will also be present to provide resume help and job search assistance.
