Winter Day
Camp: Cold-Weather Survival
Hey Kids! The Darke County Parks will be hosting a Winter Day
Camp for kids in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade on Monday,
January 19th from 9:30am-12:00pm. Since you have the day off
school, come and join us as we explore the woods while searching for a
place to spend the “evening”.
Everyone will get an opportunity to practice building a temporary
debris shelter that they could spend the night in if needed. We will
also hike off-trail using our navigation skills to look for a water
source. Once we return to our shelters we will practice building a fire
and possibly get to try a couple foods that would be cooked over the
fire.
Remember to dress for the weather as we will be outdoors for the
duration of the program. If you would like to sign up, call the
Nature Center at 937.548.0165. Pre-registration is required and
the cost is $5 per camper. For more information on all of our
upcoming programs, please visit our website at www.darkecountyparks.org
