Volunteer Opportunities
DCP Volunteers,
Below are the volunteer opportunities we have planned for the month of
August. Please let me know if you are available to assist with any of
the projects/ tasks.
· Early Morning
Discovery Hike
Join a Naturalist at 8AM on Tuesday mornings and hike the trails to see
who calls Darke County Parks their home.
· Butterfly Monitoring
Do you like BUTTERFLIES?! Join us at 2PM on Friday afternoons and
assist with Butterfly Monitoring. Beginners and experienced individuals
are welcome to join us as we hike a preset trail recording the
butterfly population of Shawnee Prairie.
Science Lab- Sumer Camp- 9:30am-12:30pm – August 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th
(please arrive at 9:00am)
Do
you enjoy doing science experiments? If so, please come help us with
the 8-9 year old summer camp. Please let Robb know if you can
help.
Friends of the Park Meeting – Tuesday, August 4th- 6:30PM
Are you already a Friends’ member or would you like to join?
Please plan on attending the monthly meeting at the Nature
Center.
Prairie Days Prep Day- August 6th- 2PM
Join us today as we start preparing crafts for Prairie Days.
Please let me know if you are able to assist. Thanks!
An Inky Adventure- Sumer Camp- August 10th, 11th & 12th 10am-12pm
(please arrive at 9:30am)
Join us today and assist the campers in learning all about the hobby of
letterboxing. We will be creating trail names, carving stamps and
hiking while treasure hunting.
Starry Nights- Sumer Camp- August 11th, 12th, 13th 9pm-11pm (please
arrive at 8:30pm)
Join us today and assist the campers in learning all about the planets,
constellations, and stars. Let me know if you are willing to help with
camp.
Bike to Health- Monday, August 17th- 6:30pm
Join the Naturalist at the Gettysburg Access Point (Bridge Street), and
we will ride the trail and enjoy the summer evening. Remember to bring
your helmet and a water bottle.
Great Darke County Fair- Friday, August 21st thru Saturday August 29th-
12-8pm
It’s time for the Great Darke County Fair and our booth would love your
help to capture others like yourself who would like to help out Darke
County Parks. If you would like to assist please contact me as I
have a separate sign-up sheet for the Fair. The shifts are 12-2PM,
2-4PM, 6-8PM for each day of the fair. Also, while volunteering
for the fair we would like for you to wear your Parks volunteer
shirt. If you don’t have a volunteer shirt, please see me!
Log House Opening- Saturday, August 22nd- 1-4PM
Are you interested in hosting the Log House? We are still in need of
several volunteers, please let me know if you are available.
Float at Lake Loramie- August 24th – 5pm
Do you have paddling experience? If so, please join the Naturalist this
evening for a float at Lake Loramie.
Log House Opening- Saturday, August 29th- 1-4PM
Are you interested in hosting the Log House? We are still in need of
several volunteers, please let me know if you are available.
