Edison Hosts
Charger 400 Club Event To Support Athletics
The Edison Community College Foundation and Athletics Department will
partner to host the sixth annual Charger 400 Club event on Thursday,
March 19, at 6 p.m. in the Robinson Theater at the Piqua Campus. The
event is held to help raise funds for the College’s athletic programs.
A reverse raffle will highlight the evening’s events, with one lucky
winner walking away with a $12,000 prize. Other cash drawings will be
held throughout the night and ticket holders are not required to be
present to win.
“This will be my first year participating in the Charger 400 and I’m
beyond excited,” said Nate Cole, Director of Athletics and Student
Life. “If you like tailgating, you will enjoy this event! There will be
plenty of great food, good company, and a chance to win twelve
grand–all while helping our student-athletes.”
Tickets are $100 per couple and include a buffet, beverages,
entertainment and a chance to win. A silent auction will also be held
featuring items such as NFL tickets, sports memorabilia, gift cards,
and more.
“Edison is fortunate to have such a high–caliber pool of athletes to
draw from in the area,” added Cole. “This event is important because it
helps support these athletes by alleviating costs that they may
otherwise have to pay. They can become part of an athletic team and
take classes without worrying about the financial burdens typically
associated with college.”
Funds raised by the event assist Edison in providing the best
experience possible for student-athletes and have previously assisted
the teams in post-season travel, uniform expenses, and equipment
upgrades.
Edison’s teams compete in the Ohio Community College Athletic
Conference and are Division II members of the National Junior College
Athletic Association. In addition to playing for Edison, numerous
athletes have been able to take their skills to the next level as they
move on to play at four-year institutions.
