presents ‘Musketeers’ in April
GREENVILLE – “All for one, one for all!” The phrase came to life when
Alexandre Dumas serialized “The Three Musketeers” in 1844. Later
published as a novel, the story has been recreated more than two dozen
times in film, plus another half dozen times in animation.
In April theater-goers will have the opportunity to see the production
live at St. Clair Memorial Hall, courtesy of the GHS Theatre Company.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. April 3; and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 4.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students, teachers and seniors.
The troupe’s advisor and director, Tom Nader, introduced the students
to the classics with their current offering and, according to volunteer
producer Cheryl Collins, has been working with them on the acting
methods used specific to the time period. In an early March rehearsal
he gave them the “scripts” for their choreographed fight scene, one of
the highlights of the movie versions of the book.
“The fight scene is totally choreographed,” Collins said. “When we did
our auditions we weren’t only interested in acting ability, but also
whether the student would be capable of sword play...
