Marc Smiley
Edison Hosts
Annual Leadership Conference
Edison Community College’s Mosaic of Community Leadership will feature
speaker Marc Smiley of Solid Ground Consulting at its 12th annual
conference on Wednesday, May 20, from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. in the
Robinson Theater of the Piqua campus. The annual conference brings
together executive directors, board members, staff and volunteers to
explore in depth topics related to not-for-profit management.
This one-day conference will aim toward bringing awareness to any
organization’s planning process. This involves engaging stakeholders,
clarifying your role in the community and creating a rationale for
saying no to misaligned opportunities while empowering staff.
Smiley, who specializes in organizational development, strategic
planning, and fundraising, will serve as the event’s presenter. He has
worked extensively with not-for-profit and public organizations
nationally that focus on a range of issues, including land and river
conservation, affordable housing, historic preservation, and human
services.
Boasting an impressive professional background, Marc has presented on
strategic planning at dozens of conferences, and he teaches graduate
and undergraduate courses in planning and effective governance as an
adjunct professor for the Institute for Nonprofit Management at
Portland State University.
This year’s annual conference is made possible through the generous
support of our Title Sponsor, The Duke Foundation and our session
sponsor, The Troy Foundation.
Registration for the event is preferred by Friday, May 15 to ensure a
seat. The cost to attend the event is $50 per person with a discounted
rate of $45 each for groups of three or more attendees. For more
information or to register, contact Julie Slattery at
