& Egg, Hoopin’ in the Coop, Superfit & Cornhole
Poultry Days Angel Food Cake Contest and Egg Exhibit
Saturday, June 13, Poultry Days will be featuring one of the oldest
event at the festival, the annual Angel Food Cake Contest and Egg
Exhibit. Open to youth ages 7-17 and adults of Darke and
neighboring counties. Flavored and Chocolate Angel Food division
features your favorite recipe. There are a youth and adult
division in the Flavored Angel Food cakes. All cakes must be
wrapped in clear plastic or 3 gallon clear plastic bag on a paper
plate. Colored plastic wrap WILL NOT be accepted.
Angel Food Cake Recipe
1 Cup sifted cake flour
1/4 teaspoon
salt
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons
cream of tartar 1
1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups (12) egg whites
Sift flour with 3/4 cup sugar 2 times; set aside. Beat egg
whites with cream of tartar and salt until frothy. Add remaining
3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, continuing to beat until whites
hold stiff peaks. Fold in Vanilla. Sift flour mixture (1/4
mixture at a time) over meringue. Fold in gently until flour
mixture disappears. With a spatula, push batter into 10 inch
ungreased angel food cake pan. Bake 350 for 35 to 40
minutes. Invert cake in pan; cool.
For the creative person, there is Egg Art. It’s art done with
either hollow eggs or egg shells in an artistic theme of Poultry
Days. A minimum of three eggs are required. Another way to
express your creative flare is dyeing a hard boil egg. There’s a
division in both Egg Art and Hard Boiled Egg Art for adults and
youth. So let your creativity go.
For the youth ages 7-17 only is the egg exhibit. The divisions
are white, brown, and, unusual eggs. You must bring in 6 eggs and paper
plate to place them on.
Please note registration time is 8:30 to 9:30 Saturday
morning. Prize money for ten places will be awarded

Hoopin’ in the Coop
The Versailles Lady Tiger Basketball team would like to invite you to
participate in the 5th Annual “Hoopin’ in the Coop”! This 2 on 2
basketball tournament is to be held on Sunday, June 14th in conjunction
with the world famous Poultry Days. Pre-registration is open
until June 6th. The cost to participate is $8 per player (no
shirt) or $16 per player (includes shirt). Participants can
register up to 12:30pm on June 14th. Late registration is $10 and
$20 (with shirt while supplies last) per player. Doors will
open at 11am with tournament play beginning around 1pm. There are
12 different divisions set up beginning with those 10 years of age to a
30 & over age group. All divisions have both female and male
divisions. Prizes are awarded to first and second place teams in
all 12 divisions. The 2014 tournament hosted over 40 teams and
included some current and past local basketball talent. To

Annual SuperFit Challenge and Cornhole Tournament
Versailles Poultry Days will offer its 3rd Annual Mister & Miss
SuperFit Challenge on Friday, June 12th. Participants must
be on the field by 5:30 pm and the competition begins at 6 pm.
The course is designed to put your physical fitness to the test; you
will be pushing, pulling, squatting, lunging, running and
jumping. Separate age divisions for men and women will be
available. Registration is $15 in advance, $20 the day of the
event and includes a ticket for a World Famous BBQ Chicken
Dinner. The annual Cornhole Tournament will be held at 1:30 on
Sunday, June 14th. Pre-registration will be $20 per team and $30
day of the event. Both events will be held at 459 S. Center St.,
Versailles, Ohio. Entry forms and rules are available at
